Honoring AAPI Heritage Month with Deep Roots and Modern Vision
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month—a time to honor the cultures, histories, and contributions of AAPI communities. At Crane Wellness, this celebration is deeply personal. Our brand is rooted in the rich wellness traditions of Japan and backed by decades of innovation, integrity, and purpose-driven science.

Crane Wellness is proudly owned by Fine Japan, a legacy health and nutrition company founded in Osaka in June 1974 by Yoshimasa Sasaki. What began as a small factory producing wellness products has grown into a global leader in natural health, functional foods, and nutritional innovation—with a powerful presence in Asia and the United States.
The company is still family owned and operated with his son Nobutsuna Sasaki as President and CEO, son Dr. Yoshiharu Sasaki as CTO and Fine Bioscience Research Center, and youngest son Kentaro Sasaki working as Director of Domestic B2B Sales.
A Legacy of Wellness Since 1974
Over the past 50 years, Fine Japan has expanded across Japan, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, Russia, Mongolia, and beyond. In 2008, the U.S. headquarters opened in Los Angeles, originally focused on bringing Japanese products to Asian grocery stores and specialty markets.
In 2010, Fine Japan deepened its scientific commitment by launching the FINE Bioscience Research Center (FBRC) at Osaka University to support cutting-edge research and development. With over 300 employees in Japan alone, 5 manufacturing facilities, and 300–600 SKUs in production at any given time, Fine continues to uphold world-class quality with certifications like GMP, ISO9001, and Organic JAS.
Introducing Crane: A Modern Brand with Timeless Values
Crane Wellness was launched in March 2024 to bring the time-tested benefits of traditional Japanese ingredients to U.S. consumers in a modern, accessible way. Our products are inspired by natural remedies used for centuries in Japan—from coix seed and nattokinase to marine collagen and our newest creation matcha with adaptogenic mushrooms.
Every Crane product is created with our core promise: to deliver effective, clean, and beautifully crafted wellness solutions that respect tradition while embracing modern science.
We’re proud to continue the legacy of Fine Japan, and even prouder to do so in alignment with the FINE Group Philosophy, which guides our work:
-
Prioritizing health, gratitude, and shared growth
-
Creating value through innovation and determination
-
Leading with humility, responsibility, and discipline
-
Striving for harmony with the Earth and one another
AAPI Values in Action
In Japanese culture, wellness is not a trend—it’s a way of life rooted in harmony, simplicity, and gratitude. These values are the foundation of our brand. From the regenerative farming practices used to grow our coix seed, to the careful sourcing of oceanic root iodine and the mindfulness behind our packaging, we act with intention.
We are also proud members of over two dozen respected organizations including the Japan Supplement Association, Japan Health and Nutrition Food Association, Osaka University Research Association of Industry and Science, and the Japanese Society for Regenerative Medicine, among many others.
These affiliations reflect our commitment to scientific rigor, ethical sourcing, and a community-first mindset.
Moving Forward, Rooted in Tradition

Crane Wellness exists to bridge generations—bringing the time-tested wisdom of Japan’s health traditions into the hands of today’s modern consumer. During AAPI Heritage Month, we reflect with gratitude on the cultural values, family traditions, and decades of dedication that shaped our company.
We’re honored to be part of your wellness journey—and to represent a legacy that respects the Earth, uplifts communities, and helps you live well, beautifully, and with purpose.
